JUST FOR KIDS

A note from Pastor Allen

Have you ever heard the saying, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going?" I never thought much about this saying until my more recent years. What does that acutally mean? Well, looking at it from a worldy standpoint, you may want to run or hide when things get tough. You might try and fix the problem on your own, only to realize you have made it worse. You may want to bury your head under the pillow and hope when you peak back out, the situation or crisis will be gone. From a Christian standpoint, however, these options are actually not options at all. Paul tells us in Ephesians to "stand firm" and put on the armor of God when satan throws fiery darts at us. So let me encourage each of you to do just that! When the going gets tough, we as Christians can get tougher. We can stand firm being an example for all the world to see. We do not need to run or hide in fear, because we have God on our team and He is unbeatable!

Joke Alley

A couple had two little mischievous boys, ages 8 and 10. They were always getting into trouble, and their parents knew that if any mischief occurred in town, their sons would get the blame.

The boy's mother heard that a clergyman in town had been successful in disciplining children, so she asked if he would speak with her boys. The clergyman agreed and asked to see them individually.

So the mother sent her 8 year old in first with plans to send the 10 year old later that afternoon.

The clergyman, a huge man with a booming voice, sat the younger boy down and asked him sternly, "Where is God?"

The boys mouth dropped open, but he made no response, sitting there with his mouth hanging open.

The clergyman repeated the question. "Where is God?"

Again, the boy made no attempt to answer.

So the clergyman raised his voice some more and shook his finger in the boy's face and bellowed, "Where is God!?"

The boy screamed and bolted from the room. He ran directly home and dove into his closet, slamming the door behind him.

When his older brother found him in the closet, he asked, "What happened?"

The younger brother, gasping for breath replied, "We are in REAL big trouble this time! God is missing and they think we did it!"
